How can you tell whether backpage ad is a cop?

Hi Everyone,

How can tell whether posts on backpage are likely to be cops? What are the key signatures to avoid? Is there anything one can do to screen or reduce the probability of making the mistake of contacting a cop?

I appreciate any advice you may have

I had no idea some BP ads were from cops. I really doubt there is a way to tell if they aren't already well reviewed, so best to stick with reputable sps

Look in the top right hand corner of the ad, if there is a police badge then its a cop ad. If there is no badge then its all good, and your good to go

It's legal to contact a prostitute this way in Canada so the police don't conduct sting operations like they might in the US.

You still shouldn't approach them on the street.

Summerlove , this is Canada my dear.....cops don't do that here , but if ask an undercover female officer on then street then , your off to "john school".

I don't think its in the budget for metro finest @ $10 per ad !!

There aren't any reasons to fear, in Canada, LE posting ads on escort ad sites. If the sp is legal age, there isn't anything illegal about posting ads, replying to ads, setting up appts, and seeing the sp. No idea why summerheat got this idea into his head.

sh, do you make a habit of only contacting ads that suggest the advertiser is 'barely legal' or under the required age of 18? Or only respond to ads that post the age of 18?

If not, that is about the only thing I would advise you to avoid. LE in Victoria, BC did actually do this, but they made it clear to anyone calling the sp would be under 18. As a sting, it was a pretty lame one, but they were only looking for guys who were seeking underage sps.

Unfortunately because most of our media is USA based, I think it is sometimes difficult to distinguish between Canadian laws and US. That's why he asked I think.

If you are concerned about getting in trouble with the Po-Po just remember not to communicate in public, that includes hotel lobbies/hallways. Either contact them on the net privately, a phone or inside a private area such as a hotel room. If they try to get you to talk about escort services in a public setting turn 180 (or the most convenient exit) and walk away.
