If somehow I would end up with a million, I would not spend a penny for a year, I would sit on it and think about it, I deffinetly would not donate or give any away, ..., it takes money to make money, with a million I would make a lot more and keep going, make the fortune go up and not down, unfortunetly I only have 20 bucks to my name.

A million is not much money in todays world. You guys almost sound like Dr. Evil, "one million dollars." Met with laughter. I would genuinely be nervous if that was all I had left.

That is very true.. you have to have alot of money.. buy land for commercial property.. hold onto it until someone wants it so bad they will buy it out. If new buildings are going up in a rural area... and you own land, they will approach and ask to buy to expand

Some of the land I sold a few years ago was in the family 50+ years. My parents bought it for $8000. That was a small fortune at the time. Their friends laughed at them for buying in the boonies along the lake. I got over a quarter million an acre. I won't say how many acres. Moral is it took a lifetime and luck for it to appreciate. To buy high value property to flip, a million is chump change.

one million is more then enough to start a buissiness & or go to school;while living in a carefree environment... its chump change when your in the big leagues (i guess) but if your a good saver & investor/buissiness persons, it can mean alot... how many smart, capable people have plans for their life & buissiness but are pinching pennies to have the means; one day. a million dollars is more then enough to get life started,:) for someone with big plans & strategies to do it.

You are right... However unlike a lot of mislead people... I dont think one million is enough ro retire amd never plan to work again... While expecting to buy all these fancy things. If youre going to do it.. yoy should live a bare minimum lifestyle. . Which kinda takes the fun out of a million dollars. On average.. raising a kid 0-18 is like half a million to care for !
I would have to volunteer atleast if I quit working for a large fortune. Id get too bored. . Amd the world needs volunteers

Nowadays a million dollars is fuck all. A half decent house is going for $800,000, now you need furniture and a car. Guess what you don't have enough $$ left for gas now back to work.

A million might allow me to retire early, but not at my age (and no doubt my wife would want to retire too). A million isn't even enough to live off the interest anymore. We have pre-teen kids too, so setting up a trust for them would be important too.
I would pay off our house, set up funds for the kids, maybe doing some renovations on the house we have talked about. There's half of it gone there. It would certainly be life changing, but it wouldn't move us into a life of luxury by any means.
Now, start talking about winning the Lotto Max $50 mil, and we can start fantasizing lol.

Agreed! A million dollars is peanuts, by the time you buy a house or a condo and a nice car you have nothing left. It may be just enough money to keep me hobbying and spend more time with some of my regulars, perhaps pay for the $300-500 top notch providers that I currently am unable to afford. lol

Ya, I wouldn't be able to retire but things would get easier for sure.
- I would be able to expand my business sooner
- pay off mortgage
- bank some for my retirement
- stash a little for my nieces and nephews schooling
- go on a kick ass world tour lonely planet style
- Reno my place some
- treat myself to a new sea-doo GTX
- go on a SP banging bender ( go see those long distance ones like Wendy or Erin Porter.)
Nothing too crazy!

Although it sounds like a lot, a million doesn't go that far when you have to share with family and relatives (which is kinda required, unfortunately). Depending on the size of family, most people end up with one tenth of the winnings in real disposable cash. While $100K isn't to be sneezed at, it doesn't solve all life's problems.

I'd take a mil happily. I'd give some to each of my kids, some to charity, then start working on my TDL. Let's see... alphabetical order to be fair... Lusty, Raven, Ty would be at the top of my list ;)
